Operations Update - February 2022
Happy New Year to you all,
This year Karibus will step to the next level, expanding operations in key cities across the UK and introducing our first zero-emission buses!
Our planned London expansion is still to go ahead albeit a little later than planned, the pandemic paused work on our new state-of-the-art facility located in Kennington! As such, route 159 has remained with Abellio London for now but sadly our deals for routes 432 and P5 were forfeited. Fortunately, we were successful in our bid for route 201 which will join the 159 in Kennington a little after opening.
In the west of England, we have finalised our agreement with NBC Devon for routes 12, 35, 100 and 122, they will join our fleet operating from the Rodwick Down Treatment Centre. Excitingly, new buses are already being made for route 35 and 122, existing buses within our fleet will form the allocations of route 12 and 100.
Further north, routes 101 and 102 from our Gainsborough base will receive capacity increases in the coming weeks in a direct swap for Enviro200s from the Strathshire depot in Scotland. Route 25 will remain double-decker operated permanently. 5 new dual-door single-decker buses ordered for route 28, this route will also see a capacity reduction on Sundays permanently due to parked cars, to compensate, 2 extra buses will be added to the peak service.
And finally, negotiations with First Yorkshire in regards to the purchase of Olive Grove Depot have progressed enough for us to announce a summer start for Karibus in Yorkshire!
An exciting year ahead!
